Raccuglia Garden
Boulder, Colorado
This garden has two distinct parts, connected by a slot like trellised staircase. An intimate concrete walled courtyard with fountain and lush plantings contrasts with a steep sloped hillside, terraced with 3/8th” plate steel walls, made negotiable by a circuitous concrete and d.g. stair-path. The geometry of the pathway is actually an ode to the code for stairs without hand rails. The terraces feature riots of native perennials, grasses, and pre-existing conifers, fruit trees, topped by an outdoor living room lawn and vegetable garden.
